Digital Point Faux Pas

There are thousands of webmasters, seo gurus, netrepreneurs who hang out at digital point to make $$$$$. The digital point has a lot of rules to follow, and you better shut your mouth or glue your fingers to prevent unnecessary threads and murmurs. You don’t want to end up crying out here.

These are the basic rules to prevent the moderators at DP of giving you an infraction:

- Duplicate thread - If you create a thread about a subject that is already being discussed in another thread, you may receive an infraction.

Duplicate threads are very common at DP, for sure moderators have a hard time following every threads that DP members created.

- Affiliate links - Affiliate links are allowed in signatures, but they are not allowed in posts.

There are some hard headed DP members who are trying to fool some members to sign up using their affiliate link, these people thought that DP is for newbies like him/her.

- Thread hijacking - Off topic posts or trying to promote your own item/service in a thread started by someone else are both examples of thread hijacking.

I’ve noticed that very few members are doing this blatant advertising, most of DP members are educated and respect their fellow member.

- Running up post count/post has no value - Posts such as “pm sent”, “lol” or any other useless post that does not contribute to the forum or the thread is considered a post that has no value. Posting numerous “welcome to the forum” posts in the Introductions forum is also considered post padding or running up your post count. Posting an opinion in a sales thread such as “great price, good luck with the sale” but not actually bidding or participating is not allowed.

A lot of DP members are doing this, as in ‘many many’. This technique is also called bumping thread.

- Inappropriate post/thread - Although we are quite liberal, certain threads and posts are simply inappropriate. Examples of inappropriate posts would be porn and blatant vulgarity.

Very seldom to see at DP. Netrepreneurs search for money and not for porn.

- Thread started in wrong category - If you start a thread in the wrong forum because you do not have enough posts to start a thread in the correct forum (the Buy/Sell/Trade forum, for example), you will receive an infraction. If you start a thread in the wrong catagory, but it appears that you at least attempted to put it in the right forum, you generally will not receive an infraction.

This is what moderators are for i guess. To check threads and place wrong threads to proper categories. Wrong threads at wrong places are very common in forums, supposed to be there is no need for infractions here. Except if old members does this.

- Bumping thread - Bumping is when you reply to your own thread with the sole purpose of bumping it to the top of the forum. Also, a worthless reply to old threads can also be considered bumping.

Same thing with running up post count.

- Inappropriate language - Cursing is not forbidden in this forum, but we expect it to be used minimally.

Only people doing witchcraft is allowed to curse :) (LOL)

- Spamming - If all or the majority of your posts are promoting or linking to your website or product. You will receive an infraction for spamming.

Spam is the game. More spam more bucks.

- Duplicate account - If you create more then one account at Digital Point Forums, you will receive an infraction and will be banned.

It’s hard to detect who created an another account, unless that shallow minded DP member uses a similar username like username and username1.

- Attacking/harassing other members - You are allowed to disagree with the opinions of other members but you are not allowed to attack the person or their circumstances.

I called this rule the defender. If you sell something nobody can mess with you. If somebody commented on your thread saying ‘I hate you, you lured me’ ‘Your links are scam’ ‘Your links expired’ ‘Your links are useless’ if you own the thread you can simply ask a moderator to warn this dude who made the comment to erased his comments or else he/she will get an infraction, why? Because he is harassing you! There are plenty of cryers (sellers) out there who does this, they will simply ask friend mod to give you an infraction for harrassing their threads or making false statement. Well, nobody wants his odor stinking around, this will ruin their making money thingy. Many would sell junk services and when you bash them at their own threads, don’t be surprise if you get an infraction (remember that).

Meaning at DP you can sell anything whether it’s rotten or not. Nobody can touch you. Also, watch out for people offering permanent listings, this doesn’t mean your links are still up and alive even you’re dead. It’s a complete sh*t. The best thing is to check the links as often as possible. The only problem is you can’t bash the seller if you finds out that after the next PR update the sites are down, expired or sandboxed. It’s your problem though coz you’re the one who made the deal.

Believe me this happens all the time.

There are plenty of folks out there offering automatic bulk blog post submission and I just want to warn you before you take any of these opportunities. Always ask if they are indexed by Google. How old is the domain names - always check the domain dates especially the expiry dates. Make sure they are not expiring soon. Make sure they are not bought with PR, they will lose it shortly. Make sure they are at least technorati listed or at least able to ping technorati . Make sure it is not RSS scraped. Make sure the sites are not sandboxed or unindex.

Deal at your own risk.
